Exhibition Preparation

After gathering dozens of breathtaking masterworks, our art connoisseurs will examine all of the pieces and narrow the selection to represent a common theme. Establishing a theme allows us to take a more in-depth look at a specific technique, medium, or time period. Once we have chosen our final assortment of works, Michael personally frames each painting, drawing, and print, with a gold leaf frame that matches the pristine quality of the art itself.

Acquiring Our Masterworks

The acquisition of our artwork begins with an inbound lead or outbound request. Our founder, Michael Schwartz, often gets notified by someone in our expansive network of artist families, auction houses, and museums that a new, significant work of art has become available. Our Director of Acquisition is also constantly scanning catalogues and alerts that come to us from dealers, worldwide. We are dedicated to ensuring the significance, rarity, and appreciation value of each piece, so we spend hours researching every work in our collection so we have an extensive knowledge about the piece and its importance. We spend up to three weeks gathering information relating to our pieces from museums and scholarly resources. By time the work arrives at Galerie Michael, we know its every detail about its history, so we can provide you with all the information you need to make the piece part of your own museum-quality collection.

Our Network

With more than 40 years of dealer experience, we’ve fostered relationships with families of some of the most noteworthy artists in history, as well as auction houses, master art dealers, and museums, giving us exclusive access to some of the most sought-after works of rare art. We have established relationships with the families and consultants of impressionist artists, Pissarro, Cézanne, and Renoir. We also have connections with the printers of modern masters, Picasso, Chagall, and Miró. Our relationships also extend to the Picasso family and Picasso expert, Brigitte Baer.

This vast network of art professionals allow us to curate rare, historically significant, and influential artwork of the highest quality and value. All of the masterworks in our gallery collection reflect the top 25% of the artist’s oeuvre, which refers to their lifetime of work.

In addition to our network of master art dealers, museums, and artist families, we also maintain relationships with distinguished art scholars, such as Alexandra Murphy, Gary Schwartz, Gabriel Weisberg, and Rembrandt author, Dr. Petra Chu. With these art connoisseurs at our sides, we’re able to offer the most in-depth knowledge and education resources to our clients and art appreciators. Restoration

We assure the highest quality of artwork at Galerie Michael. We work alongside professional fine art restoration companies so we can examine every detail of a new masterpiece accessing imperfections and ensuring authenticity. Using an ultraviolet light and magnifying tools, we’re able to verify the original quality of the painting has been maintained. When the paintings, prints, and drawings are hung on our gallery walls, we know they’re in pristine quality.
