Gallery Overview
Galerie Michael is a unique fine art gallery in business in Beverly Hills for almost thirty
years, with an equally unique business. The model is built on posterity rather than
prosperity and takes a long term view (on going) with the collector/customer in the
building of a museum quality collection, one work at a time. This model has built an
unparallel client base of close to 5000 collectors many of whom have been collecting with
Galerie Michael for periods from ten to fifteen and as much as twenty years.
Another important aspect of Galerie Michaels ongoing success is the customers are treated
more like business partners with full access to Galerie Michaels planning, market
expertise, curatorial knowledge, and contact with a staff of fine art scholars that Galerie
Michael has worked hand in hand with over the years. The collections which are built
always focus on artworks in the upper 25% of the body of the artists oeuvre, emphasizing
rarity, historic importance, land-breaking innovations, demand, ultimate sale-ability,
potential appreciation and artistic insight. All collections are catalogued by the gallerys
in-
house curatorial department.
Galerie Michael has built solid relationships with the Renoir family, the Cézanne family,
the Pissarro family, members of the Picasso family, and their representatives, the Mourlot
family, the printers for Picasso, Chagall, and Miro, and scholars such as Gary Schwartz,
noted Rembrandt author and authority, Gabriel Weisberg, Dr. Petra Chu, and Alexandra
Murphy, all leading authors and scholars in the field of 19th century Plien Aire painting.
Thus the gallery is known worldwide for its leading edge in French pre-Impressionist works
(mounting over 18 annual exhibitions), including Renoir and The Journey to Impressionism,
Picasso and the Artists Muse, Rembrandt: A Comparative View, it goes on and on.
All of the
above exhibits are generally accompanied by insightful essays written by the previously
mentioned scholars and critics who support the gallerys effort of selling fine art through
education.
Additionally, Galerie Michael, through scholarly catalogues and museum affiliations,
creates fine art collections for exhibit on the museum circuit. These collections have been
on exhibit in the US as well as Europe, and most importantly follow a proven formula that
increases the value of the collection as a whole, creates great notoriety for the owners of
the collection, brings historic insights to the public on the artists oeuvre, creates a viable
revenue stream and fine art exposure for the museum, and the gallery profits from the
international branding associated with putting the collections together. All in all its
a win-
win for all parties involved.
Over the last three years, Galerie Michael has been responsible for approximately thirteen
museum exhibits starting in London, essay written by Martin Royalton Kisch, the curator at
the British Museum, followed by two in Germany, than ten exhibitions in the US at various
museums, essay written by Gary Schwartz, Rembrandt scholar and author.
Because of Galerie Michaels long-term views, collector ethic, access to fine art, and its
prestigious membership in the Fine Art Dealers Association (FADA), it has evolved as one
of the most highly thought of and successful galleries in the US and is sure to continue in
that manner for the next thirty years.
